Scheduled & Emergency Cesarian Sections

Scheduled and emergency cesarian sections are both performed at Newton Falls Animal Hospital in Ohio. Scheduled cesarian sections are usually performed due to the pet’s large size or the number of puppies she is carrying. We recommend that the scheduled cesarian section be performed no earlier than 60 days gestation. Scheduled cesarian sections are typically considered low-risk procedures. Emergency cesarian sections are usually performed due to dystocia (unsuccessful labor progress) or abruptio placenta (premature separation of the placenta from the uterine wall). Emergency cesarian sections are considered high-risk procedures and as such, we do not recommend that they be performed unless absolutely necessary.
